Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to take just a couple of minutes to follow-up to the excitement of yesterday’s symposium with some thank-yous and next steps. Once again I want to thank the Government of Ontario, who through the 15 million dollar investment funded this event, thereby bringing a broad representation of Ontario’s diverse public libraries together both in person and through webcast. Thank you to Premier McGuinty and Minister Carroll for their support in launching the event.
I also want to thank our sponsors who assisted us in making the funding go even further for libraries.
Thank-you to Wendy Newman and our partner organizations (SOLS, OLA, FOPL, Knowledge Ontario) who were part of the advisory committee who brought the program together and found such thought-provoking speakers.
Thank-you to all the attendees, in Toronto and through webcast for their participation.
And finally thank- you to all the others who were involved in making all the details work: the hotel, AV company and staff amongst others.
Now where do we go from here? OLS- North will post the material from the symposium on the Libraries 2020 website www.olsn.ca/symposium2020 next week (as early as possible) and will give the library community an opportunity for feedback on the strategies which came from the deliberations yesterday. We will be meeting with the members of the advisory committee to determine other next steps which will allow us to continue discussions, expand upon the strategies and ensure that a plan to implement the strategies is created
We look forward to continuing to work with the library community on the implementation of strategies for public libraries in 2020 and beyond. //
