The 'Friends' are a volunteer group of citizens believing in books, cultural activities, and libraries for people of all ages.
What Do The Friends Do?
The Friends work towards enhancing library services in our community through volunteer and fundraising. These have included:
- March Break, Summer reading programs and Public Library Week activities for all branches.
- Purchases of equipment, such as shelving, computers, furniture as well as books, videos music CDs, DVDs and other materials in consultation with the Librarian.
- Raise funds through the sale of tapesaver programs, sale of promotional items, memberships and donations.
- Raise funds through annual campaigns such as the "Be An Angel" and participation in Elmvale's Maple Syrup Festival.
- Promote our Library through involvement in Minifest, (Minesing) and whenever the opportunity arises.
- Purchasing of 'In Memory' materials for our branches.
- 'Friends' are great volunteers, assisting our library with such things as gardening, book exchange, and childrens' programs.
