Other Services
Teck Centennial Library’s children collection is selected for infancy through to the eight grade. All children’s materials have a "J" on the spine label, which means Juvenile.
Fiction or storybooks are arranged alphabetically by the author’s last name. Non-fiction books are arranged by the Dewey Decimal number
Children’s Programs
We offer free story time programs for preschoolers and a Summer Reading Club, which is free and open to readers and pre-readers. A wide variety of other preschool programs and after-school academic-related programs are offered. Crafts, seasonal and holiday specials round out the fun. There is not a charge for these programs.
Parents of children who are attending preschool Library programs are asked to remain in the Library for the duration of the program. Parents must not leave children under the age of eleven (11) unattended in the Library at any time.
We offer tours and orientations for school classes and other interested community groups (e.g. day cares, Beavers, Brownies or special needs groups).
Younger children may listen to stories or book talks. Older participants may learn how to use the public access catalogue or how to research a topic of interest. Due to time limitations, group tours do not include Library card registration, but staff will explain how to obtain a Library card and the responsibility that comes with having one.
Schoolteachers may arrange to visit the Library to work on independent study units. Please call ahead to arrange a time for class visit.
