The Township of Georgian Bay Public Library is a community-oriented partner that enriches community life by fostering the joy of leisure reading and life-long learning for all ages. The library preserves and promotes access to a wide range of knowledge, information and ideas in a welcoming environment.
Introduction
The Township of Georgian Bay Public Library provides service for approximately 2,000 permanent residents and 20,000 seasonal residents. Branches are located in Honey Harbour and MacTier.
The Township of Georgian Bay Public Library is governed by a Library Board whose trustees are appointed by the Township of Georgian Bay Municipal Council for the term of Council. Primary funding for the library comes from the Municipal Council. In addition to a Provincial operating grant the library fundraises and has Charitable Status to accept donations and issue tax receipts. The Library Board operates under the Public Libraries Act and is legislated under this Act to provide a comprehensive and efficient public library service that reflects the needs of the community.
